In recent years, I’ve felt like I’m drowning in a flood of content and information because there’s so much around.
One thing I realised with podcasts early on, more than with any other medium before, was that there were normally only a handful of things that spoke to me and I wanted to record. I thought it would be useful to boil down the whole length of an episode only to what was relevant to me so that I could learn and possibly take action. I felt that if I didn’t spend time thinking about these points then I’d simply move on to the next thing and forget about them, which was what normally happened.
To try to address this, I started taking notes on my iPhone but I quickly realised that wasn’t going to be enough. Then I came up with the idea for this website where I’d post what I’d taken away after listening to a podcast, reading a book, watching a film… In this way I’ll be able to keep track of what inspires me and hopefully it’ll also become a useful tool.
An excerpt is a short extract from a film, broadcast, or piece of music or writing.
