I’ve recently started reading the new book ‘The Well Gardened Mind‘ by Sue Stuart-Smith after coming across it in The Daily Telegraph ‘Why a garden (or just a green view) eases our hearts and minds in troubled times‘ and then again in the Financial Times ‘In difficult times, let us cultivate our gardens‘. In it she gathers scientific evidence and stories to explain why gardening and nature are so important to our mental and physical health. Every chapter starts with a quote and this one below was her choice at the beginning of the book.
“All truly wise thoughts have been thought already thousands of times; but to make them truly ours, we must think them over again honestly, until they take root in our personal experience.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Once again, it reminded me of why I started this blog and it seems to touch on practically all the positives I see it having:
a home and archive for all your excerpts (your thoughts); my (thoughts); focus, be present (with your thoughts); skills (curate and edit your thoughts); effective (taking time to type and think about your thoughts, it will increase the chances of those ideas being assimilated and potentially lead to something else.); discovery (new thoughts) and reflection (to allow thoughts to sink in).
The importance to slowing down and taking time to reflect on our thoughts / ideas.
