I watched a video the other day about a vintage clothing business and what stayed with me was the owner’s advice…
“I think if anyody now has got an idea they’re wanting to set up their own business, whatever that might be, whether it’s cutting hair, selling clothes, making candles, all you’ve got to be is really passionate about it. Because if you’re passionate about it, then you get to know stuff that other people don’t know because you’ve got a thirst for it. If you know an awful lot about one thing, you’re limited. If you know a little bit about everything and you’re passionate about it, you’ll find you’ve got so much knowledge.”
At the very end he finished by saying:
“We’re not going to die wondering.”
I’d never heard that idiom before but I loved it:
“[…] frequently used in sports and everyday life—that means taking bold action and giving a challenge your absolute best effort rather than living with regret or wondering “what if”.
I think it’s a great mantra for life and worth remembering when working on side projects, much like the famous Samuel Beckett phrase…
“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.”
